Private & Groups

Your choice of country, your choice of dates. If you would rather ride with your own people than join a scheduled departure, we can build the trip around you: a private run of one of our tours, something tailored from scratch, a club ride, a fundraiser, a school program or a company event.

Our Tour, Your Friends

Feel like doing your own thing, or the scheduled dates don’t suit? Take any Social Cycles adventure, set your own dates and bring your own group. There is no minimum or maximum number, but the more of you there are, the less each person pays.

Prices work like this. With a group of eight, the price per person is the same as the standard tour price on this site. Fewer than eight, and it is marginally higher; more than eight, and it is marginally cheaper.

Totally Tailored

Want to start somewhere different, ride the route backwards, spend longer in one place, upgrade the hotels, or add something we have not thought of? We can make it happen. We can either design the experience and price it, or you tell us what you want to spend and we build within that. Tell us your ideal destination, how many days you have and a little about yourselves, and we will put a package together.

Cycling Clubs and Social Groups

If your club or organisation wants to put on an international cycling adventure, we would like to help. We tailor the experience to your members, take groups of 15 to 80 people and cover all the logistics. You get a wholesale price on the places and sell them on to your members, raising money for the club in the process. Everybody wins.

From multi-day adventures across Cambodia to a three-hour ride across Saigon, we can make it happen. Our one requirement is that the trip includes support for local NGOs and some learning for your team, in line with the Social Cycles values.

Fundraisers and Challenges

A cycling fundraiser is a good way to get a community behind a cause you care about. We handle the adventure logistics for your riders and can connect you with fundraising platforms so the challenge reaches further. The same requirement applies: an element of NGO support and learning is part of every ride we run.

Schools and Universities

We give students the chance to learn from local experts in an environment like no other. This is not an aid program where students build toilets or become instant English teachers. Students remain students; the teachers are NGO directors in remote parts of Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos. With that new understanding, and working closely with the local NGOs, we look for ways students can make a real contribution, in areas like digital marketing, PR, communications and branding.

Corporate Teams

Two examples of what a company ride can look like.

AccorHotels, Asia

Social Cycles brought AccorHotels team members from every level of the business together to celebrate Diversity & Inclusion. Over three riding days, the 75-strong team cycled from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh, supporting and learning from four local NGOs along the way.

AIA Insurance

As part of a five-day regional conference in Ho Chi Minh City, Social Cycles hosted a 60-strong AIA team on bamboo bikes, riding from one side of the city to the other. The event took three hours and supported the local NGOs Mekong Plus and KOTO, with information sessions and cooking classes included.

Corporate and Partner Rides

The AccorHotels ride above covered 160 km between Siem Reap and Phnom Penh, ridden over three of the five days on the ground. Behind it was a Social Cycles team of 15 to 18 support staff, led by the founder, with transport logistics run by our Cambodian team.

In November 2019, we ran a second Accor ride, the “Amazing Bike Ride 2.0”, taking Accor Heartists through Vietnam from 14 to 17 November, about 300 km along the Mekong Delta. The ride set a fundraising goal of up to $100,000, split between four nominated charities.

Self-Guided

Prefer to ride without a guide? We can arrange self-guided adventures in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. The price includes all your accommodation, breakfast in most hotels, the NGO experiences, our route maps, bags moved from hotel to hotel each day, bike hire with panniers and racks, planned boat transfers, on-call mechanical help and emergency transfer. Dates and length are flexible: three days or thirty. Price depends on the group size, but as a guide think 50% to 80% of the full tour price.

Questions People Ask

What are the sleeping arrangements?

Wherever possible you will be in an air-conditioned room. If you are travelling with your partner, you will share a room; otherwise prices are based on twin share. A single room can be arranged for a supplement, and the figure varies by tour. Where a price is published, it is listed under Extras on the ride’s page; otherwise ask us.

How does the donation work on a private trip?

The same way as on every Social Cycles tour. Every rider gives 200 AUD, a set donation that is part of the trip, not an optional extra. It goes directly to the organisation you choose, all of it, with no bank fees or commission. Near the end of the trip, each rider picks the one that touched them most; no one decides for you.

What is included in the price?

It varies by itinerary, but in general each tour includes meals (most breakfasts and dinners, some lunches), all accommodation, bike hire, guides, a support vehicle to carry your bags, water and fruit on the ride, entry to particular local attractions with a specialist guide, the NGO visits and your arrival transfer from the airport. Not included: flights, travel insurance, visa fees, guide tips, drinks with meals, and money for some meals and souvenirs.
